iMac running EXTREMELY slow on Big Sur 11.1

My iMac recently updated to 11.1 and since then has been running so slow that I have just resorted to not using it at all. Help!

iMac 21.5″, macOS 11.1

Howdy,

Can we identify what is consuming your iMac with Activity Monitor?

/Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor

View information about Mac processes in Activity Monitor

Under the View menu select All Processes to see everything. Then you can sort by %CPU and Memory to see what is using the most of each.

Also make sure you are not running out of Memory.

Check if your Mac needs more RAM in Activity Monitor

See if you can add more memory to your iMac,

else quit Apps that you don't need running, or try to lessen an App's memory usage: close browser tabs, close unused files and windows etc.
