Can i trade in my iphone 8 for a different iphone 8? or is that not allowed. My iphone 8 currently is manufactured for japan so the shutter sound does not turn off. Would I be able to just trade it in for a different one? maybe one that someone else traded in that is still in good shape?

Very likely no. You would have to return it to Apple in the country of purchase (Japan) within 14 days of purchase (at least that's the US return period). Otherwise you have to sell the old phone and buy a new one.

Nobody in these forums represents Apple sales or any store. You really need to contact stores where you live directly yourself to get any sort of real answer your question.
I don't know why Apple would sell a Japanese model in Canada. Did you really buy it from Apple, or did you buy it from a third party reseller? If this is third party goods then Apple isn't really involved.
