How can I block area code 469 from texts

the area code is always 469 but the number is always different, any way to block the 469 area code, regardless of the rest of the 7 digits?

I get numerous texts a day

Just found this on google...

Hiya: iPhone Spoofed Calls / Neighbor Scam

  •  1 month ago Updated

We can't block an entire area code on the iPhone due to restrictions from Apple, but we can warn or block an area code and prefix.

If you receive a lot of spam calls from a specific area code and prefix, you have the ability to warn or block that in the Hiya app. There is a way to warn or block spoofed calls in the iPhone app. In the Hiya app, tap on the Protect tab, then scroll down to the Neighbor Scam option tap on it, turn it on, and enter a number.

This is actually a good reminder from IdrisSeabright of what this forum is used for.

I encourage everyone to use this link:

Product Feedback - Apple

and put your feed back there.

Apple needs to add a text blocker app for free to help. And a feature to block a certain Area Code would be super helpful. The normal messaging filters don't work on the Area Code 469 SPAMS. and the Block feature does not work because a new number is used each time. There has to be a way to tackle this problem. Maybe the providers need to hear from users as well. For AT&T: text a copy of the SPAM to 7726. Then it will ask for phone number the SPAM came from. I do this for every SPAM text.

I think everyone has to give Feedback

Actually, if you read down near the end of the first page of this thread, someone posted this:

There is an app called text killer and it will send all spam to a junk folder.

And I can indeed say that worked for me. It did filter them pretty well once I got the Text Killer app installed and configured with the area code I wanted to block.

The only thing left to figure out is why my Mac still shows them. My iPhone filters them but my Mac does not seems to pay attention to that text message filtering. If anyone knows how to fix that, I am all ears.

Area code (or Numbering Plan Area-NPA) 469 covers a lot of the most populous area of the State of Texas, Dallas and its suburbs. If you blocked it you would get no legitimate calls from the area it covers, which includes some Apple and many other corporate support locations. In general it is considered a bad practice to block a specific NPA. Even if you could, the spammers would just switch to a different NPA, because when you use a fake phone number you can make it anything you want. This is a particularly incompetent spammer, because they could easily make the call from any NPA in the country, and each call could be from a different one.

I know fir Android phones, Mr. Caller app will allow you to block the area code. Not sure if there is a Mr. Caller for Apple, but I would search the App store for a call/message blocking app, check reviews, and find one that includes area code blocking. I'm sure if Android/Google has an app like this, Apple most likely does too. Hope that helps, bc that 469 area code is a piece of ****, and sounds like its affecting a lot of people. I would also advise everyone to hound their carriers or the FTC about this, bc something needs to be done and we pay a lot of money to these carriers for them to not be actively working cohesively with each other to snub this kind of intrusion to their customers. And we know it's got to be some type of program bc I noticed a lot of comments stating that they start getting texts around 4 am. They start at exactly 4am on my phone as well, so its a predetermined time that is programmed to initiate mass text to a cadra of numbers. I bet if we really dug deeper, I would guess we are all receiving the exact same text message too. Anyways, got off on a tangent there. I've read a lot of positive reviews on Mr. CALLER for Android and am going to install and see how well it works. I'll try and follow up here in a couple days to update the success of the app and if I've found a comparative Apple app. Good luck!

469 is the worst area code for this, but that being said there is a trick. See with your carrier if they have a number to FORWARD spam texts to (be careful to forward & not hit a link) Then hit info on the spam texter twice. It will take you to the number to copy & paste in the text & then delete it. They are cracking down on these numbers & may work in forwarding spam lists with other carriers. AT&T has been the most proactive cell carrier on the spam front, even having a home phone model that screens calls & blocks robocalls. I used to get 40 rings a day, now one ring (screen picks up, they hang up instead of giving a name to be let through). It’s playing whack a mole but came here looking for help like you so hope this helps.

The problem is that the texts...like SO many telemarketing and spam phone calls....are NOT coming from the actual number that shows up as the sender. Nine times out of 10...if you were to try to contact the number showing up...it isn't even a valid phone number. Blocking and reporting is totally pointless. I installed "TextKiller" on my iPhone and it helps ON THE PHONE. It doesn't stop the BS from showing up and harassing me on my MacBook Air or iMac. Sadly, I haven't found a great solution to block the nonsense on those platforms. The BS started for me when the bombardment of unsolicited and not asked for political texts started up.

Hi. I also have the same problem with area code 469. I am also with AT&T. It started a few months ago. I get a few texts a day. Every time I get a text, I have to block it. It is getting so annoying because now I get texts as early as 4am. There must be something someone can do. Apple, please help.

Well, you are not alone. With the US population fo 330 million, I’m sure every one of us gets spam texts many times a day.

Go to Settings/Messages/Unknown & Spam. Turn on Filter Unknown Senders. Then all texts from numbers that are not in your contacts will go to a different list when you retrieve messages. You can also add a spam filter such as nomorobo (and others) that will further filter based on their database of spam numbers.

As far as I know, the code is the same for all carriers in the U.S. I also report spam texts to that number. I have it in my contacts so I just have to type "spam".
