None of my UK keyboards, wired or wifi will enter the @ symbol

None of my UK keyboards wired or wifi will enter the @ symbol, this means that I cannot log into the Mac Mini M1 using my Apple ID! I have a Satechi bluetooth keyboard, but that is not recognised on the M1, it will not type anything!

Mac mini, macOS 11.0

What key do you expect the @ to be on? The Apple "British" input source does NOT have it over at the right edge, like Windows UK keyboards. Instead it is on Shift 2, like US English keyboards. So try Shift 2.

If you want your @ over that right edge, go to system prefs/keyboard/input sources and use the + button to add "British pc" and get rid of "British".

Thank you so much for your help, the second part of your reply did the trick! It is a pity that Apple does not know this.

I had to return my original Mini M1, as it had not been set up correctly i.e. there was no welcome screen, or any icons at all on screen.

I was getting so frustrated with this problem, as I did manage to set this replacement up, but I could not log into my Apple ID or the App store etc, so frustrating, especially as I am a Linux user, which of course I shall never move away from!

Thanks again.

Regards.
