iPhone 12 Pro ProRaw DNG photos coming in at very small file size.

I've just bought my first iPhone, the iPhone 12 pro, and was trying out the new ProRaw format for photos today. When I got home and examined them, it seems all the DNG files it's created are no bigger than 2MB in size. Whilst I would expect a Raw photo to be in the 20-40MB file size range.

My images come out horribly compressed and I'm not seeing anything in the way of HDR or other features I'd expect from Pro Raw, yet when taking the photos Pro Raw is selected in the settings and the photos say "Raw" when taking the photos in Photo mode (not portrait mode).

Am I missing something here? I've seen other examples online of Pro Raw photos that are all 20-40MB in size, so I pretty sure that's what I ought to be getting here.

Do the images look compressed in the Photos app on your iPhone, or only when you've imported the image to a computer?

Do edited .jpgs appear the same after being edited in the Photos app on your iPhone? Test with a different app if the behavior is occurring on your computer:

ProRAW uses the industry standard digital negative (DNG) file format, so you can open ProRAW files with apps that are compatible with DNG files. For the best experience, however, use apps that are compatible with ProRAW files, like the Photos app on your iPhone with iOS 14.3 or later or on a Mac with macOS Big Sur 11.1 or later.

You can share the original unedited ProRAW photo, which has the .dng file extension. And if you edit the photo in the Photos app, you can also share the edited version, which has the .jpg file extension when shared."
