Date taken on Photo Using Finder

I would like to sort photos by date taken on camera/device when viewing in Apple's Finder. I can't do this easily...it often has the date uploaded/modified. Please make a way to see date created...not just when using the Photo App. "Content Created" is not an option when I want to sort...only Date Created, Date Modified, Date Last Opened, Date Last Opened. PLEASE MAKE "DATE CONTENT CREATED" as a way to sort photos and videos when using finder! Anyone know how to sort by Date content created?

When one uses Apple's Image Capture to transfer images from the iPhone to the Mac, it will use the on camera Image's internal EXIF DateTimeOriginal field to set the creation date in the Finder. Any other means of transferring the image, as far as I know, treats the image with a creation date of the time that the file was written to the Mac, and not the EXIF data when the photo was actually taken.

Unless the preceding paragraph is followed, I believe that the expected sorting by Date Created may not achieve its intended purpose.

The Finder is a file manager. It works with file data. You want something that works with the exif metadata on the photograph, which is not the same thing.

You can request that Apple add support for Exif dates in the Finder using the feedback option:

https://www.apple.com/feedback/

Or you can use an app that reads the exif data - and that doesn't have to be Photos. Any number of photo browsers/viewers will do this. I'd encourage you to check out apps like Graphic Converter, for instance.

From the Finder window If you right (Control) click in the header area (see the red x)

it opens the contextual menu—

it is here you can add or remove header categories—including date created.

Here the example is in List view:
