Trojan virus

I just received a notice on my screen that I am infected with a Trojan virus and I need to download the app to get rid of the virus. I downloaded the app and now they want to charge me $99. To get rid of the virus. Is this real?

No, all such messages are scams from criminals. As you have witnessed, they are attempting to scare you into downloading a useless app. Delete the app, but first check that you have no active subscriptions to the app.

Scam.

By the way, trojans and viruses are two completely different things.

There are no known viruses in the wild that can affect an iOS device.

A trojan is a malicious program that masquerades as something else.

It's not possible to get a trojan unless you've jailbroken your phone and are downloading apps from outside of the App Store.
