No Way To Delete Multiple Messages In Big Sur.....A Big Problem

I can't believe Apple would not recognize the need to erase multiple messages in Big Sur. This is ridiculous and should be addressed by Apple. Click....Click....Click.....and Slide....Slide....Slide is getting really redundant! Does anyone know of a software that may interface to do the trick?

Just found Apple has a Messages User Guide online ... this is the page that tells how to delete multiple messages. Hope it works for you

Ummm.... wondering whether the multiple messages you want to erase are in the "Messages" or the "Mail" app ?

In Mail, you can delete multiple messages (that are listed together) by clicking on each, thus hi-lighting them, and then deleting in any of the usual, various ways .... delete (trash) icon ... keyboard delete button ... etc

Am unable to use Messages on Big Sur at the moment, because it quits whenever I log in and open it ... so am no help there.

All the best with finding a solution.

Thanks....for the reply, brbo. If you just upgraded to Big Sur, you'll probably regret it if you're an avid user of Messages. To delete even one message, you have to jump through three hoops, whereas before, you could simply click on the trashcan icon on the message. Even the slide method of deleting is very cumbersome. I'm really hoping either Apple or some other software can come up with a solution of deleting more than one text message at a time.

Thanks muchly for your replies dakleparker1953. Sorry I've been of little help. Enjoyed using Messages up until the time I updated to Catalina .... was surprised no fixes in Big Sur allowing me to use Messages. So I'm unable to even look at helping with the Message delete situation ... Disappointing to be allowed to log-in, briefly, see my old messages are still there, and then to see the log-in screen back again. Oh well, many things are working well, despite the hefty updates, so I'm grateful for that. Hope someone else can offer you a solution ... cheers

I thought specific messages but theres also a way to do convos.

Go to CMD + SHIFT + G

type and search "~/Library/Messages"

all cho stuff can be manipulated in chat.db, you'll need a db (database) editor of a sorts. (SQL with modifications work)

I doubt anyone will take the time consuming path unless they actually got 100+ conversations to delete though.
