Two USB microphones cutting out

My Macbook Pro is having issues with multiple USB mics (a Blue Yeti Nano and a Fifine Technology mic). The issue began in April with my Fifine mic, but I recently purchased a Blue Yeti and the problem appears to carry over. Whenever I try to use either microphone, the audio is choppy, only picking up about 1/2 of what I say. I have tried it across multiple platforms, fiddled with the input settings, but nothing seems to make either mic work properly.

TWO EDITS I forgot to mention that make this especially frustrating:

1) the Fifine mic worked previously without a hitch. However, after a few months of not using the microphone, I pulled it out again in March to discover that the audio was suddenly cutting in & out for no apparent reason.

2) I recently dug up an older Blue Snowball mic & tested it. The mic worked perfectly, so I don't believe the problem to (necessarily) be with my computer or USB-thunderbolt converter
