Unrecognizable file format

What can I do to to be able to download my pictures from my Apple 11 iphone. ?? This is what it says, "some items cannot be added to your photo library because they may be an unrecognizable file format or the file may not contain valid data."

How can I get the pictures in the right file format to download???

What is the filename of the items that cannot be downloaded from the iPhone? Could it be videos? On some older Macs you cannot play videos with a very high frame rate.

Also, if the camera on your iPhone is set to take the photos and videos in the space saving High Efficiency format, you need to upgrade your Mac to a newer system version than shown below your post. macOS 10.12 does not support the High Efficiency format at all. You need at least macOS 10.13 High Sierra or newer.
