Old Iphone wont turn on

I used to use my Iphone 6s before getting a new phone. since then, the Iphone ran out of battery and has sat in my drawer. i recently started making a scrapbook and i would like to access some old pictures on this iphone, but i cant seem to turn it back on. i never used the cloud so i think the only way for me to access the old photos would be to turn the phone on and send them to my new phone.

Is there any way i can turn the phone on? it isnt damaged at all, just simply hasnt been used for about 12 months. i have tried charging it, pressing and holding the home and lock button, but so far no luck.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Lithium ion batteries can be completely ruined by allowing them to sit with no charge for extended periods.

You'll probably have to get the battery replaced before it will power on again.
