system preferences won't load
I upgraded this week to macOS Big Sur (11.1), and I find that System Preferences will not open. The dock shows it is "running," but the window does not appear. Any suggestions?

It turns out Apple Tech support recommended that I boot in Safe Mode, and then select System preferences. This works. Next, reboot the Mac. It was fixed!

What about from the drop down>System Preferences (?)
What about from the Applications folder>System Preferences.app

With regard to your questions:
• It does not work from the drop down>System Preferences menu
• It does not open from the Applications folder>System Preferences.app
• I can Force Quit it from the menu
