MacBook doesn't want to unlock System Preferences
After installing Big Sur, my Mac won't accept my Admin password when I was unlocking System Preferences to fix my AntiVirus privileges. What to do?
MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.1

First off, what is the need for AntiVirus software on macOS. The OS is secure enough without adding a piece of software that interferes with the OS. Antivirus, Disk Cleaners, Optimizers are ti=ottaly unnecessary and can actually cause more harm that what they purport to do even to the extent of corrupting the OS. Suggest removing it via the Software developers instructions asap.

Thanks, but this doesn't answer the question I posted. Whether I am installing an antivirus software or an app, your response doesn't solve anything!
Thanks, will go and look at this. I already looked at other postings so will let you know if this works. Thanks again.
Worked! Thanks!

Good to see you were eventually given credit for the best overarching answer.
