Safari refreshes when I choose the back button

When I am online shopping (at Macy’s for example) and I click on an item, after scrolling for awhile, I hit the back button and Safari takes me to the top of the screen instead of back to where I was mid page. I want to hold my place and not have to scroll all the way back down to where I was. How can I stop this?

Hi there kierra198,

We understand it's important to not lose your place when shopping. We'll be glad to assist you.

To start, please check the settings on Safari using these steps:

If Safari is slow, stops responding, quits unexpectedly, or has other issues

If Safari doesn't load a page or webpage items are missing

Please try restarting your restart your Mac in safe mode: How to use safe mode on your Mac

Safe mode prevents your Mac from loading certain software as it starts up, including login items, system extensions not required by macOS, completes a basic check of your startup disk, and clears cache. Test Safari at the websites where you're experiencing this issue while in safe mode.

We look forward to hearing back from you with the result.

Stay safe!
