Does a password manager provide more security?

On my Apple devices, I use Apple suggestions for strong passwords and I have them auto filled while using various websites. I suppose my passwords are secure unless I lose my 6s iPhone and someone uses my iPhone password to open my the phone and finds my passwords in my settings. Does a password manager provide more security? Why are password managers recommended?

Your theory of losing your iPhone 6s and then someone accessing your passwords has a flaw in it. You have a passcode set for your iPhone 6s and then you have an Apple ID and its Password to access the password keychain. The other person will have to know this information to access the keychain and the passwords.

The password manager apps provide no better security than the keychain does on your iPhone however provides better password management / organization options. Most of these require a subscription and storage of your data on their servers. How secure are they? Who knows.

In the end, it comes down to choice. Save money and not use Password Managers or pay and take advantage of the password management features.
