I updated Catalina to Big Sur and that’s what I get, an extra HD- Data which is encrypted and contains 60Gb. Haven’t a clue why.
How do I put it right?
Do I follow Apple procedure to reinstall and erase or delete the 2 HD-Data drives?
You should be able to remove the volume in Disk Utility. No need for any other measures.
Thanks, that has solved my MacBook.
Can I do same on my iMac (1Tb Fusion Drive), difference being that rogue drive ( Volumes/ Macintosh HD) is encrypted and contains about 60Gb?
Where did that one cone from? It normally won’t duplicate the OS volume.
You didn’t say “- Data” in your previous post. You should make sure there is nothing stored on it that was not copied to the other - Data volume before you remove it.
I shouldn’t have any personal data on it worth keeping, so I can delete it in Disk Utility?
if so, thanks again for being very helpful.
