File was created in ibooks author on El Cap, I am trying to open it in Pages on Big Sur and get an error message that Pages can't open this type of file.

Yes it is an .iba file and I am trying to open it in Pages version 10.3.5 (7029.5.5) ...... and it seems that having you even try to answer the question has resolved the problem! Yesterday it was greyed out and gave an error message, today it recognizes it and I can open it! Whatever voodoo you do please keep it up!

Exactly what version of Pages are you running?
I can't open ibook author file in pages on Big Sur- none of these instructions work
