printer proxy

I have Catalina on my Mac (late 2015). The computer does not fully close down but says instead "quit printer proxy." I didn't even know I had a printer proxy"! What is it and how do I quit it? When I do, will my printer (HP Pr M452nw) work? Since this problem started, it has not. Thanks for your help. As the note no doubt suggests, I'm fairly low on tech IQ. Deborah
