Screen goes green on Apple TV when controls disappear

The display replaces the black with green when watching Apple TV when the on-screen controls disappear. When I keep the cursor over the controls to stop them disappearing it's fine, but if I wish to watch without the controls visible it goes green.

Hi there melmoth2704,

We understand you're experiencing an issue with the picture turning green on your Apple TV without the controls visible, and we'd like to see how we can assist.

Do you notice this when streaming content from different apps, or only with content from one source?

Also, try calibrating your video settings with the steps below from Adjust video and audio settings on Apple TV:

"Calibrate video or audio

You can fine-tune the video or audio calibration on your TV, home theater, or wireless speakers, using any of the calibration tools provided in Settings.

  1. Open Settings Settings on Apple TV.
  2. Go to Video and Audio.
  3. Swipe to Calibration, then do any of the following:
  • Wireless Audio Sync: Select to run a test with your iPhone to sync the sound of your wireless speakers to your wired speakers. See Calibrate audio between your wired and wireless speakers.
  • Zoom and Overscan: Select to see a reference image you can adjust using your TV’s picture settings.
  • Color Bars: Select to see a reference color bar image you can adjust using your TV’s picture settings."

Cheers!

melmoth2704,

Thanks for clarifying that for us.

Since the issue only occurs within the Apple TV app on your Mac mini, test to see if it also occurs with downloads content, or only with streaming.

Also, restart your Mac, and test for the issue again: Log out, sleep, wake, restart, or shut down your Mac

Finally, try starting the Mac mini in safe mode, and see if the green tiny continues there: How to use safe mode on your Mac

Thanks!

Sorry, I don't understand how calibrating the picture when the picture is perfect is going to help? As I've said, the picture only goes green (black = green) when the control panel disappears, so when I'm doing anything the pic is fine. It's only when I stop moving the cursor and the controls disappear that the problem occurs. This is on the Apple TV app on my Mac mini. Netflix, etc viewed via Safari, Firefox, etc are all fine
