Fan Turning On

how do i get my fan to stop turning on within a minute of opening my laptop?

I'd recommend checking if any apps or processes are using lots of resources on your Mac. To check, open Activity Monitor, located in Applications -> Utilities.


NOTE: If kernel_task is taking up a lot of resources, that process is the core of your Mac. It's throttling the CPU to help cool down your Mac, and will stop taking up resources when your Mac has cooled down.


If you believe that the fans are turning on when they shouldn't be, you can try resetting the System Management Controller (SMC), if your Mac does NOT contain the M1 chip: How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support
