Can I claim my Apple Watch under warranty for water damage?

my Apple Watch screen has just broken and stays black, I've charged it fully, and it still won't work. I believe it might be due to water damage even though the apple watch is supposed to be waterproof. I've had the apple watch for 8 months now and I did get the screen fixed 2 months in, if I try and claim it under warranty for water damage will I still be able to get it even though I got the screen replaced.
