I received a threatening email from someone who has a password of mine, wanting me to give him bitcoins or he will send all my contacts info about my visiting porn sites. I am not threatened in any way by this and have not responded to the email but i want to know what I should do, aside from not visiting porn sites, to make my computer more secure.

It's a scam. They got your password from a site that was compromised.
Stop using the same password across multiple sites/services.
Delete it and move on.
The compromised password should be change IMMEDIATELY to something very difficult and should change ALL Passwords for everything also right away
I would talk with an attorney or law enforcement as it appears to be extortion, and may have legal ramifications for the originator of that email, either locally, by the FCC, or even the FBI — if the email originated from the U.S.
