What macOS are you currently running..(?)

There is no Notification icon in Big Sur— but if you click the time/date stamp in the upper right it opens the Notification sidebar, same as two finger swipe from the https://support.apple.com/guide/macbook-pro/notification-center-apd6d7eb47b9/2020/mac/10.15.4

If you are running Catalina or before, my suggestion would be, simply:

— reboot

— or reset the menu bar from the Terminal.app copy and paste:

killall -KILL SystemUIServer

This worked...Go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key to choose "Library". Then go to the Preferences folder and find and delete com.apple.systemuiserver.plist. Then go to the By Host folder also inside your Preferences folder and delete com.apple.systemuiserver.plist (also any with numbers). Then log out and back in, or restart.

Thank you
