CarPlay Call Volume too low

I have Apple CarPlay in my car with a Pioneer AppRadio4 (DA-120). My phone is the iPhone 8S, iOS v14.2. In the last few weeks I have noticed that my incoming call volume is too low. This is with both plugged-in and bluetooth connections. Yesterday, I was plugged in and had a phone conversation and had to turn the volume on the head unit to max and still could barely hear the caller. After the call ended my radio was blasting and had to turn it way back down. What is going on at Apple that checking CarPlay call volume is not one of the regression tests when releasing any new software updates? Apple should release a version that allows users to set their phone volume in CarPlay relative to the volume of the head unit when in normal radio mode.
