Imac off - will mouse and keyboard charge
Will keyboard and mouse charged while plugged into usb port when imac is off. If it is supposed to it is not working for me. I have to plug the device into another source

No. To charge them with the computer off you'll need a USB charger cube like those that came with earlier iPhones and plug into that in a wall socket.
