Receiving hundreds of calendar alerts

I just got an iPhone 12 Plus and all of a sudden, I am getting hundreds of email alerts with each calendar appointment. Of course, they show up on my MacBook Pro, as well, which is where I can delete hundreds of email alerts at once. My calendar is linked with my google account, but the alerts are not coming from google, just from iCal. I have already changed my Calendar - Preferences - Alerts -Events to "none" and this does not seem to solve the problems.

How can I fix this?

If running iOS 13 or earlier versions, check: Settings - Passwords & Accounts - Accounts - Any rogue entries here? If so, delete the rogue account.

If running iOS 14, check: Settings - Calendar - Accounts - Any rogue entries here? If so, delete the rogue account.
