iPhone 12 mini dimming issue

So my iPhone 12 mini keeps dimming way below where it should to the point that it’s very hard to see. I adjust the brightness all the way to 100%, and it’s still not enough. In trying to find a solution in the forums, I’ve updates to the latest version of IOS, turned off the suggested settings in accessibility, adjusted the white balance turned off auto lock etc, all with a reset and to no avail. Also, I’m currently in Mexico and no apple stores around. Anyone have a suggestion?
