How do I transfer videos that are already in my macbook's photo album to finder's desktop? It keeps giving me a stupid error message saying it won't transfer. This is for iMovie because you can't add videos directly from photos to iMovie without it turning into a photo.

Select the video, then from the file menu:
file>export or
file>export unmodified original (preferred if you are going to iMovie)

What codecs the offending movie has?? HEVC with the missing hvc1 tag or 4:2:2 instead 4:2:0? Check with Invisor (my favorite because it can compare many files and highlight the differences) or MediaInfo.
Or use IINA, VLC or Handbrake to open and inspect the movie.
