Watch keeps me up at night

I’m used to using a Fitbit Charge 3, which allows me to wear it at night, track my sleep, and manages to at least not vibrate when I sleep. I don’t really mind it lighting up. But my Apple Watch wants me to stand, do breathing exercises, and who knows what else in the middle of the night. I just got it a few days ago, so there’s a lot I still don’t know about it.

Anyway, it seems I have three options:

  1. Leave reminders to stand, etc. on and get awakened in the middle of the night when I toss and turn. I don’t want to do this because I like to sleep.
  2. Turn reminders off (or use do not disturb, etc.) and hope to remember to turn them back on in the morning, back off every night, repeat ad nauseum. I don’t want to do this because I’ll forget, and the reminders are a major reason I wanted some sort of fitness tracker in the first place.
  3. Take my watch off at night so it won’t remind me because it knows I’m sleeping. I don’t want to do this because then it won’t track my sleep patterns, heart rate, etc. Again, this is one of the major reasons I wanted a fitness tracker in the first place.

Surely there is a way to accomplish what I want. If it doesn’t recognize I’m sleeping, can I create a schedule for when to NOT give me reminders? I don’t want to use Do Not Disturb because if someone calls in the middle of the night, it’s probably pretty important.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I think I answered my own question, as I didn’t notice before that Do Not Disturb has a bunch of ways to customize it. When I have used it before, I just swiped up and touched the moon icon. But going in through Settings allowed me to create a schedule, such as 12:00 until 5:00 am, to allow notifications only from certain groups - in my case, All Contacts. This way, I should be able to at least sleep between midnight and 5:00 am, and I’ll still get a notification if my mom needs something at 2am.

Perhaps someone smarter than me can add instructions for others who have this question.
