Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.0 Problem

I installed the Multi-Touch Trackpad Update to get the Inertial Scrolling and Three-Finger Drag Gesture but I don't see that it worked. The install said it completed successfully but after rebooting the Trackpad preference pane looks like it did before. Except there is a button at the bottom to set up a bluetooth trackpad.
Has anyone else with a MacBook Early 2009 model got it to work?

I have had this problem since I did the trackpad update as part of or after the 10.6.4 update. I havent seen any good solutions and have been very frustrated at Apple's lack of response, HOWEVER I HAVE A WORKAROUND THAT SEEMS TO MAKE IT GO AWAY (double clicking does NOT solve the problem, but for a second).

Go into the Trackpad settings under System Preferences - Hardware, and uncheck "Tap to Click". This means you have to actually press down on the trackpad to click, as opposed to a light tap without depressing the surface. Other than this minor inconvenience, the drag-locking should go away. It has been over 6 hours and I haven't had a problem since.

Hope that helps!

For me, the solution seems to come when I engage a 'click' by lightly tapping the glass, not physically pressing it down. I then hold it in that manner for 10-15 seconds. I tried it both with a 1-finger glass tap, and a two-finger glass tap, but I'm not sure yet which one was the precise solution. BUT, it did fix the problem without having to go through and reset everything.

I talked with Apple support yesterday and the guy I talked to couldn't find any record of this problem. But, trusting what I've read on here, hopefully there is a update fix on the horizon. This sounds like more of a software bug and not a hardware bug, so I'll hold out another week or so before I go hand over my precious laptop to the Apple store for a physical repair (it's hard being without a computer for 3-5 days...).

same problem here after trackpad update.

every hour or so the trackpad acts as being constantly clicked- if I move the cursor around, it highlights text, moves icons, etc. Very annoying. After clicking it a bunch of times after a minute or two it goes back to normal, until the next time.

apple helpdesk said it was the first time hearing this problem :-((((
don't they read their own forum???

let's hope in a fix

Same thing here and I've been reading the forums for solutions and waiting for an update, which I know will come eventually. What gets me is that the behavior is random. Right now, it's been fine for a few hours, but will pop up out of nowhere at some point- happens just about every day. I am trying to figure out what triggers it, but so far I can't seem to nail that down. I've tried all of the suggestions, but it still comes back. I am convinced there's nothing wrong with the unit, just a glitchy software bug. PITA, tho so I hope a fix comes soon.

I am also having issues since this update. My cursor is randomly moving around the screen and sometimes highlights text even when I'm not touching the trackpad. It also secondary clicks, even though I have it disabled in trackpad settings. So frustrating. It is making it very difficult to work on my MacBook Pro. 😟 I've tried using another mouse but it seems that the trackpad is still going haywire even when I am using the other mouse. Hoping that Apple fixes this ASAP!!!

Sorry that others are having this problem but glad to learn that I am not alone. Along with this issue I also started having problems with my MBP unexpectedly powering off when on battery. The trackpad and power problem seemed to have occurred on our about the same time frame.

I used to love my MBP but lately it has become a bloody nightmare.
