How can I lower the volume on my startup sound? It's been coming on at full volume, and I can't seem to adjust it.

Just turn down the general volume control before shutting down. I use this Automator app to reduce the sound volume to a preselected level. I keep it in the dock and click on it before shutting down.

Evidently, the startup sounder is something that was reinstituted with macOS Big Sur. I noticed it after I updated, but then something happened since then (I did unplug my computer the other day), and now it always comes on at full volume when I start/restart my computer. So far, nothing suggested has helped lower the volume, so I will just disable it for now. Other suggested solutions would be gratefully welcomed.
