Like many software makers, Microsoft 365 (which includes the App Store versions) supports the current and two prior versions of MacOS. That means 10.14 Mojave is required for the current version of MS 365.

Office 2019 goes back three versions so it supports High Sierra. Buy the Office 2019 suite from Microsoft or consider a free alternative (OpenOffice, LibreOffice).
