Not able to use Face ID for Password for Notes on iphone Xs

I am trying to activate my Face ID for password for Notes, without success.

I go to Settings - Notes and then attempt to activate Face ID before entering password, but the button remains greyed out. I would be grateful for any suggestions. Thank you

Face ID no longer working with Notes Face ID has recently stopped working with Notes which is preventing me from accessing a couple of important notes. I setup a password (a couple years ago) and the hint isn’t helping. I’ve never needed it as I’ve always used Face ID for access. This problem exists on my iPhone and iPad. I’ve verified all the Face ID related settings. My phone is running iOS 16.3.1. I’m assuming this is a bug that will hopefully be fixed soon. In the meantime has anyone had the same issue and found a way to solve it?

Notes 📝 My Face ID stopped working and I’ve being using it for the longest while to access my locked notes on my phone. Currently I can’t access important information in my locked notes and when I go to Notes in my settings to change the password it just creates a new password, but doesn’t changes the password word previously locked notes. What do I do?

Face ID no longer available for Notes on iPad All of a sudden I am no longer given the option to open my notes on my iPad with Face ID. I have tried everything I can think of from restarting my iPad, turning off and on Face ID for notes, Resetting Face ID all together, logging out and then back in to my Apple ID. Each individual Lochner requires me to enter a password and then once locked must be re-entered again. There’s no option to use face ID. My iPad is up-to-date and everything worked fine yesterday. Face ID works just fine on my phone. Can’t seem to find anything in the help section that addresses this right now.

We're glad you thought to ask Apple Support Communities about enabling Face ID for your locked Notes. If you haven't already, check out the section "Before you begin" here: How to lock notes on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

You'll also want to ensure you already have Face ID set up. Just in case, here's how: Use Face ID on your iPhone or iPad Pro
