Activation Lock

i have an iPad that I purchased that was stolen then later recovered. However now it's locked. I do I have any recourse with Apple to help me unlock it or is it a total loss?

If you have the iPad's original purchase receipt, supply it to Apple. Otherwise, you'd need to contact the person who set the lock.
