Should I avoid using Davinci Resolve on my base model M1 Mac Air?

After seeing a decent amount of videos using the M1 MacBook Air as part of peoples editing workflow with up to 4k footage, I thought I would be able to incorporate it into my workflow as I mainly only use 1080p or 720p footage.

However when editing I noticed it got noticeably hot and was using 9GB of RAM while simply idle (on an 8gb model). The consistent warmth and use of swap memory has me concerned over the longevity of the device, as I'd like this to last me quite a while.

Could this be harmful in the long term or is the effect negligible?

CNN On their review,

"To be more precise, we had both Final Cut Pro (which had just finished an export of a 4K movie) and Photoshop open along with 14 other apps. That's a lot to run on any consumer Mac, let alone a MacBook AirFinal Cut Pro is optimized for Silicon, and the experience with it was pretty snazzy."
