Spontaneous doubles from certain keys

Certain keys are spontaneously double-striking. R, I, SPACE. Creates a work slow-down. (Are they on strike?) I saw a YouTube video on how to fix a conventional keyboard by removing the keys and cleaning with alcohol. What to do with my MacBookProkeyboard?

Thank you!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.1

You do not say what exact Mac is this...(?)

I will say pulling keys off, a lot can go wrong quickly and I would not advise this with the tiny delicate parts and pieces.

For problematic keyboard you are much safer trying:

The 2018 has the known problematic butterfly keyboard.

I would follow through with the service program mentioned above.

“Mac notebook, contact us and we'll send you a box you can use to ship it to an Apple Repair Center. We'll return your repaired product to you as quickly as possible. Depending on where you get service, you might be able to check the status of your repair online.”  Start a service request https://support.apple.com/mac/repair/service

I supposed I'll have to come out of pandemic hiding and visit an Apple storer... store!

Call first. Many Apple stores are also in pandemic hiding and simply getting an appointment within less than six weeks is practically unheard of.

⚠️ Reread Leroy's last post for the information on shipping the computer back to Apple. It may be the only way to get it repaired in short order. That repair is usually not done in-store even pre-COVID as it requires a new upper deck with the proper keyboard localization. Too hard to inventory all the variants.

If dropped off at a store, they will have to ship the computer to the same central repair depot to which you can ship. More time away if you make them a middleman.

HOWEVER....first try a long shot that can sort some keyboard issues: the SMC reset, Instructions here:

Your computer model has the T2 security chip so use that instruction set.
