wireless keyboard not working

Just unpacked a new 27inch I mac all setup went smooth 4 hrs later wireless keyboard not working cannot seem to fix it

Have you charged the keyboard? Recharge the built-in battery in your Apple keyboard, mouse, or trackpad - Apple Support

Plug the included Lightning cable into your iMac and keyboard. Does the keyboard work perfectly when plugged in? If so, verify that the battery is charged. Leave the cable plugged in for an hour or two to fully charge and unplug the cable. Will the keyboard work fine?
