Garageband is not "hearing" audio or midi
GarageBand 10.3.5 is not "hearing" audio from built in mic or from midi device (keyboard) that it recognizes.
Therefore I can't record those 2 ways. Any ideas?

Hi Ed Kramer,
From your post, it sounds like GarageBand isn't hearing audio from the built-in microphone or from a keyboard. Let's try the steps mentioned in this support article: If you can't record audio after installing macOS Mojave or later - Apple Support
Take care.
Tried Safe Mode - same. Then I went to Garageband Preferences. Lo and behold
"None" was chosen for "Input Device", so I changed that to "Built in microphone" and now it HEARS me!!! I recently upgraded to Garageband 10.3.5 and had not tried to record my voice yet. Thanks for your suggestion!
Ed Kramer,
Thanks for confirming. Does the issue persist in safe mode? Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support
Take care.
Hi, Neither GarageBand nor Microphone appear in "Privacy".
I have High Sierra 10.13.6.
Ed Kramer,
Thanks for following up. We're glad to hear that you were able to get the issue resolved!
Have a great day!
