Samsung ultrawide: screen won't fill for Macbook pro

I purchased a Samsung ultrawide monitor (LC34H890WGNXGO), I have it

connected to my 2019 Macbook pro, but it won't completely fill the

screen. I've tried both an HDMI-USBC cable and a DP-USBC cable. There's

still about half an inch around the sides. How can I fix this? I just

want to get the most out of my monitor.

Hey there, paeka!

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! We understand you're trying to get your external monitor to fill the screen when used with your Mac. We want to help!

Have you tried changing the resolution preferences on your Mac? If not, we recommend using the steps under "Change your display resolution" in the following support article:

Get help with video issues on external displays connected to your Mac - Apple Support

"If you can't change the resolution of your display because you can't see an image, restart your Mac in safe mode to reset the display resolution to defaults.

If starting in safe mode doesn't resolve the issue, reset your Mac's NVRAM and SMC to reset the video ports on your Mac to their defaults."

All the best.
