How to get mac out of recovery OS login screen

Yesterday I was just tinkering around with my laptop when I accidentally entered recovery OS, probably because I was on the login screen for a while and then restarted my laptop, prompting it to think I forgot my password for something, Anyways, I’m now stuck on the recovery OS login screen, and have no idea what the firmware password is as this laptop was tinkered around with by my old school when I bought it off them. I’ve restarted my laptop many times but every time it keeps going back to the same screen. I have online school tomorrow and really need to get this solved fast, please help!

Hello kk6969,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We understand you're unable to turn off the firmware password on your Mac. We can help point you in the right direction.

You mentioned purchasing the Mac from an educational institution. We suggest to contact your school and see if they can assist you with turning off the firmware password. A firmware password is a security measure to prevent users to start up from an internal or external storage device. In addition, we suggest to review the section in this article that says, "If you forgot your firmware password" for additional guidance: Set a firmware password on your Mac

Kind regards.
