Migration Assistant - Conflict (somewhere in the Applications folder)
Hello,
I want to from a 2015 Macbook Pro (Big Sur) to a 2020 Air M1.
After starting the Migration assistant and connecting both devices (Ethernet), I‘m told there are conflicts, though nothing is specified.
When the Application(„Programme“) folder is activated, from 170.8 GB, only 45.8 GB will be transferred.
But when deactivated this number changes to 101.1GB
This leads me to believe that somewhere in the Application folder something is messed up.
Do you have any idea, what might be going on?
Do you think one of these solutions could be viable?
- Stripping the Application folder to the most necessary apps, by drag+dropping them into an external drive. Then trying the migration assistant again, hoping whatever conflict there was is resolved.
- Trying migration from Time machine which I have on an ext SSD.

(Additional perhaps useful info: The first time I started the migration process I didn't have any conflict. Perhaps I missed it, but it's unlikely that the yellow icon goes past my attention.
Then the migration process halted after some time and it said 7min left...for hours. Then after starting it anew I got the issue I described above. Also, in the meantime I updated my old Macbook from Mojave to Big Sur, hoping this would solve it.)
