Using HP P2419HC with MacBook Air 2019 - USB-C issues

Thanks in advance.

I am trying to use an Apple USB-C cable to connect my MBA to an HP P2419HC monitor. I bought the monitor specifically for the use of USB-C cable and input. The external monitor states "No USB Type C signal from your device" even though when plugged into the monitor it is charging my MBA.

When the HP provide USB-C cable is plugged in it does detect the display. I would rather use the Apple USB-C cable especially because of the length. Does anyone have a workaround?

Thanks.

There are different types of USB-C cables. The one that ships with your Mac is the USB-C Charge Cable (2 m), and it's called that because it only carries power.

A TB3 cable might work, but again there are different types of TB3 cables. The 2 m ones are mostly active TB3, and those actually do not work with USB-C, so one of those would be fine if your display has a TB3 input but not if the input is USB-C.

Here's an example of what you need (Amazon link).
