Photos from hard drive won’t load.

I opened a folder from my Seagate Hard Drive that supposed to have thousands of photos in it, but now says there are 0 items on that folder. I thought it was erased. So I tried to open the hard drive on a Windows Laptop, and the photos are there.

If you have any idea on how can I fix this issue please let me know, I would really appreciate it. Also, I’m using the MacBook Pro M1, I don’t if this has something to do with it.

Thank you.

Hello bronzetti,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. We understand the you're running into an issue viewing some data (photos) you have stored on an external hard drive. You mentioned you can view these photos when connected to your PC. Given the photos are still here, it may be a format issue. What format are those photos saved as on the external drive? Have you made any changes to the software on your Mac, since you last were able to view those photos using it?

You can use the following article to help verify if the format used for your external hard drive is what's needed to work with your Mac. Move your Photos library to save space on your Mac

Best regards.
