Is this a native window management function and how do I turn this off?

I'm trying to turn of the auto-window resizing when I drag a window to the edge of the screen. Can anybody tell me how to turn this off? I figured It's not my Magnet App that is causing this behaviour.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.1

I do not recognize this as a macOS feature.

Maybe you can say more, whats going on here, what is the that clear overlay ?

If you hold the green pill button— there is a split screen feature. If you have 2 windows sharing the screen you can adjust the size, like always.

So I'm dragging the window to the borders of the screen. The clear overlay shows up. When I release the mouse button the window resized to the size and location of the clear overlay.

To trouble shoot further you can:

 —Try a SafeBoot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

Takes noticeable longer to get to the login screen, does a 5-15 minute disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache,  etc.

Login and test. Reboot  as normal and test as caches get rebuilt.

In Safe mode third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled, it removes malware, etc hampering smooth operation, however a  reboot will put it back to normal mode.

This test will tell you if third party interference; extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account  https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204443

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/Anti-Virus

Hi leroydouglas

Thanks for responding. The clear overlay shows where my window wil resize to when I drag the window to the edge of the screen. I'm running MacOS Big Sur and I haven't noticed this behaviour on earlier MacOS versions. I find this behaviour annoying and I don't want it to do this. I also have a Macbook Air (Catalina) that is not showing this behaviour.

I could not replicate your issue on macOS Big Sur 11.1 (20C69) on a 16" MBP late 2019.

If there is a specific work flow that sets this off, please advise.
