Apple News 'Feed Unavailable' error

When trying to use Apple News on my 2017 MacBook Pro, no news feed is displayed and I get the following error:

"Feed Unavailable

There may be a problem with the server or network

Please try again later"

I am connected to the internet with a fast broadband connection and the MacBook is running Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7

I have tried signing out of iCloud and signing back in again but the error persists.

Apple News works perfectly fine on my iPhone using the same iCloud login.

Are you running any antivirus, VPN, firewall, security apps? Test while in Safe Mode.
