Normally when I plug my USB-C cable into my MacBook Pro I see a battery icon with a lightning bolt. I now see a battery icon with an AC plug. what does this icon mean? I cannot find an explanation of it anywhere.

Hello Bearpaw26,

It sounds as though you're inquiring about the battery status icon, and what the various icons mean. To clarify, does it appear that the Mac is still charging when this icon appears? What happens if you restart the Mac by clicking the Apple logo towards the top-left, followed by Restart in the drop down? Also, does this continue to appear if you attempt charging with a different outlet, adapter, or USB-C port on your Mac?

Have a great day.

Joseph_S: The battery icon has changed from a lightning bolt to a plug icon using different outlets, different AC adapter bricks, different USB-C cables and different USB-C ports on my MacBook and after a restart. It is not consistent when it shows up; it can be at 32% or at 86% capacity. It does go up in percentage with either icon displayed, so it looks like it is charging with the plug icon too. So what does the plug icon mean?
