Since updating to Catalina 10.15.7, my Mac will not shutdown.

Dear Apple,

Since updating to Catalina 10.15.7, my Mac will not shutdown.

Having clicked shutdown, the dock and menu bar dissapear, just leaving my desktop background on display. My Mac then freezes until it eventually reboots. After rebooting, I can then click on Shutdown from the login page, and the Mac shutsdown. Everytime I login after a failed shutdown, I am provided with an error message, reading something like "you're computer shutdown because of an error", giving me the option of reporting this issue to Apple - which I have done on numerous occasions.

The fact that having 'upgraded' my Mac, it is now not able to simply shutdown... is simply pathetic.

Please fix this bug!!! Grrr!

You can always force shut down the Mac holding the power button/TouchID for ~6-10 sec as mentioned above.
