HI, Thank you for your timely replies, much appreciated.
Yes, I did see that. It says $69.99/Year.
So I can't buy excel (or MS 365) without a yearly or monthly cost.
If that is correct. I'll just learn Apple Numbers.
Thanks again!

It appears you are not reading what is at the links you were provided. Office 365 is a subscription product. But on the same page in the link provided is the Office 2019 one-time purchase option.

If you are working collaboratively in an office or school environment and everyone but you is using Excel you will not be compatible.

Excuse me?
Can you tell me how I can obtain MS Excel, alone. or in a suite, for a ONE TIME payment?

O N E T I M E payment.
Is this possible?

As has been mentioned a few times already. To get the Microsoft Office suite for a one time purchase, select the 2019 Home and Student option from the link provided several times already.

Here it is again: link-> Buy Microsoft Home and Student - Microsoft.com

Both the link recently provided that you say works and the one I provided in the very first reply to this topic several days ago lead to the essentially the same product, Office Home & Student 2019. When I click "checkout" it doesn't ask for student verification, it just asks me to log into my Microsoft account which is the same for pretty much anything you use for Microsoft just as it you would need an Apple ID to buy anything from Apple. I have a Hotmail address from 15+ years ago so it actually defaults to that.

I don't remember if Excel was ever sold on its own. Maybe 20+ years ago? Certainly not in the past decade or so.
