How to get rid of ghost emails

Hi, I’m having some issues on my IPhone 12. My mail app keeps showing the badge for 1 unread email for my iCloud email, but there is no unread email to be seen when I open the app. I have tried the following solutions with no success:

selecting all emails and marking them as “read”. This works for a few minutes, but the issue comes back
disabling and re-enabling mail in settings
restarting phone

Need to get rid of ghost emails! I have just setup my new iPhone 12. Email app showing 19 unread messages, however there isn’t any unread messages? I have tried disabling and turning phone off/on, I have tried marking all as ‘read’, I have tried the latest software update. I have basically tried every suggestion on the internet and they still won’t go away! Does anyone know how to fix this please?

Deleting emails unread on iPhone Why do I get an unread email that I just deleted as a banner at the top of the screen? I deleted it because I don't want to read it yet I have the ghost of a dead email hovering on the top of my screen? Please fix this, I'm trying to work and it's annoying the hell out of my work flow. iPhone opens random email and deletes open email Running iOS 13.1 on iPhone 6s and I see that the Mail app sometimes opens a random email when the app opens. If I have an email open and reading it and a mail update occurs one of the new emails opens, deleting the email that was open. Previous open email cannot be found in Inbox or any other mail folder. Will try updating iOS 13.2 and see what happens.
