Terminal continue to run, how to change the terminal back to default

I try to install pysal but I fail. I give up now. However, when I terminate my terminal on mac and launch it again, the terminal keep running and I can't clear all the record. I have relaunched it several times. how do I stop it from running and clear the record, so that I used the terminal in the usual way? I can't type anything there, since it continues to run. I don't know what is the problem. Do I need to reset the terminal? Can anyone give me some advise? Thanks so much!!

Sorry, since the solution is very easy, just press CTRL+C, so I thought I may ask a dummy question.

Just for future reference. Sometimes terminal does get into a state where it needs to be reset. Like if you're typing and the characters don't display, or if the text looks all garbled. In that case, you can reset the terminal, by typing "reset."

You expect others to help you, but you don't help others by providing the solution? It would be nice if you would provide the actual steps to solve the issue in case someone else has a similar issue.
